One number, every device: How Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile makes voice calling easier
Maybe you’ve had this happen to you: You have an important client call, but you get stuck in an unexpected traffic jam. You dial in with your mobile phone, but because you’re on the road, there’s no way to take notes. With the conversation still going as you roll into the office, you end up finishing the call in the parking lot, because you don’t have a way to transfer to your computer without leaving the call.
Avoid all that with Microsoft Teams Phone Mobile. It connects you to your meeting on your mobile device – and with a press of a button, it can transfer the call to your desktop computer when you arrive. It all happens seamlessly: None of the audio is dropped and the caller ID never changes, so the transfer is undetectable to the client. Ever better, it can also take notes for you, even while you’re driving.
Let’s take a closer look at this new solution, how it can help you simplify collaboration and boost productivity, and how Bell simplifies both the transition and ongoing management of your services.
No more juggling multiple phone numbers
By consolidating multiple lines into one number, Teams Phone Mobile ensures calls ring across every device an employee uses: mobile phone, desk phone and desktop computer. Now, they don’t have to juggle multiple numbers depending on their location, and they only need to share one number with colleagues, partners and clients. It also means there’s only one voicemail to check.
If you’re already working within the Microsoft ecosystem, Teams Phone Mobile integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft 365 solutions, helping you get the most from your investment. Voice calling gets rolled into the same platform you’re already using to manage your communication and collaboration services.
After getting home at the end of the workday, a therapist checks her voicemail and finds a message from a client in crisis. She immediately calls back using her mobile phone. Thanks to Teams Phone Mobile, the client sees the therapist’s office number on caller ID - not her personal number - protecting her privacy. This feature allows therapists to respond from anywhere without revealing personal contact details. Plus, with unified call logs across all devices, she can easily track her communication history with the client using the Teams app on her PC or phone.
A simpler solution for handling any call from any device
If you start a call using the default calling app on your mobile phone, the Teams app on your PC automatically detects the call in progress. A message then appears on the PC app asking if you’d like to move the call over to the computer. The same also happens in reverse. The “calls” tab on the PC app includes a virtual keypad for making outgoing calls. When you initiate a call from there, you’ll see a message on the Teams mobile app asking if you want to transfer the call to your phone.
Whenever you’re on a call, no matter which device you’re using, your presence status is automatically set as “in a call” so colleagues know you’re busy. And seamless integration with Microsoft Copilot (available as an add-on) provides powerful AI capabilities, like notetaking and summaries of calls on any device.
Better business continuity and reliability
When using the Teams app, you can also make calls over Wi-Fi rather than the cellular network. That way, you stay connected if the public network goes down or you’re in a place with poor reception, like a basement. In addition, if you lose or damage your phone, you can make and receive calls from your laptop with an Internet connection.
While driving to a meeting, an investment banker gets a call from a colleague wanting her to take over a conversation with a customer looking to consolidate their retirement plans. As her colleague transfers the call from his Teams PC app to her mobile phone, an announcement plays letting everyone know the call is being recorded.-The banker then continues the call from her car knowing the recording will be waiting in the Teams app once she gets back to the office—and that her firm’s regulatory compliance policies are being followed.
Administration made easy
Teams Phone Mobile also makes life simpler for IT administrators. The “voice” tab in the Teams Admin Center shows every user across the company, including their assigned numbers and calling policies. Admins also have quick access to all call logs and recordings for auditing and compliance purposes.
Calls can be set to always record, no matter which device they start from or pass through. Other enterprise-level security and compliance policies can be assigned to specific users or groups of users, often with just a few clicks. Some policies are built directly into the Teams Admin Center, while others can be custom programmed, providing flexibility for businesses with more complex regulatory requirements.
